With only a few weeks left until Christmas and a lockdown in the horizon, you might be panicking about presents. Halloween during a worldwide pandemic was hard enough but not Christmas too! How are we supposed to get everything perfect for our children when we are all trapped indoors. I personally love going Christmas shopping but it’s not looking like that’s going to be possible this year. Thank Christ for the beauty of online shopping!
If there was only one thing I could choose for Alexis this Christmas it would be a book. The power to completely invest yourself in a world that only exist within the pages you read is wonderful. Alexis already has a huge book collection but that does not mean there’s no room for any more. Our Latest edition comes from an author called Nesrine Sleiman. Recently, Alexis and I got introduced to The Magical Gemstone Series and I am so glad that we did. Even better, Nesrine has just brought out the latest edition to the series ready in time for Christmas.

THE MAGICAL GEMSTONE SERIES
This book series was written by Nesrine Sleiman, an author and preschool education teacher from Los Angles, California. It’s a wonderful series full of magic and adventure, whilst teaching important life lessons in a way that children would understand. Not only is the storyline really well thought through, but the illustrations also work perfectly alongside it. So far there are two stories in the magical gemstone series and I would truly love to see a third! Both ‘Lemar And Her Magical Pets’ and ‘Stop Breathe and Think’ have been favourites with children of all ages within my family.
LEMAR AND HER MAGICAL PETS
Lemar finds a Gemstone in her backyard. She wishes to own a pet. She taps, claps, and snaps for a pet. The gemstone delivers unexpected pets. Which pet will Lemar keep and what pet she will really get?
You can also grab yourself the kindle version by clicking here.
STOP BREATHE AND THINK
Lemar is learning how to control her strong emotions. At preschool, she loses her artwork. Lemar then throws herself on the floor, crying, screaming like there is no day tomorrow. how did teacher Nesrine help Lemar calm down?

BENEFITS OF INTRODUCING READING TO YOUR CHILDREN
Being able to read and write are two of the most important gifts any child could be given. Not only does it allow them to open up their inquisitive mindset but also enables them to dig deep into their incredibly creative imagination. It also has lots of great educational advantages which will help your children to succeed a lot later in life. Lockdown is the perfect time to try and start introducing your children to activities such as reading.
Reading is just one of the many fantastic hobbies you can offer your children. If like me you are starting to struggle for ideas then why not try a virtual family scavenger hunt or read the 100 days of lockdown learning that will help you out!
Reading and sharing stories with your children will:
- Introduce your child to different sounds, words and language.
- Help your child to develop early literacy skills.
- Teach your child to value books and stories
- Help to stimulate curiosity in your child’s mind
- help your child’s brain, social skills and communication skills develop
- help your child learn the difference between ‘real’ and ‘make-believe’
- help your child understand strong emotions.

READING IS THE ULTIMATE GIFT
As we all know, Christmas is creeping up on us very quickly this year. Although, this year has been a complete and utter disaster we all deserve to enjoy a good (hopefully COVID free) Christmas Day. This year has required a different approach to purchasing gifts but I’ll be honest, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Deciding to help support individual businesses by shopping small this Christmas was a brilliant idea. An idea I am so glad that I pursued. I once read the quote “When you support a small business, you’re also supporting a dream” and it changed my life forever.
Magazines are also another fantastic way of enticing your children to read. There are some brilliant and affordable magazine subscriptions that would make the perfect Christmas gift this year!
