HOW TO CREATE YOUR FAMILIES VERY OWN DREAM HOME

AD – This is a collaborative blog post however, all opinions are my own.

What does your dream home look like to you and your family? Is it a fun, vibrant, and stylish design or have you considered taking a more eco-friendly approach? Here are some of the most successful tips and tricks I’ve learnt since becoming a homeowner.

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that I know exactly what dream home I inspire to have one day. Having a safe place that you are able to bring your children up in has always been a priority to me. A dream home doesn’t have to be the cliche minimalistic Scandinavian interior design like the Kardashian sisters (Unless of course, that is your dream).

For me, It’s all about those little touches coming together so that one day you can provide your children/grandchildren with a happy home.

There are so many things you have to consider before moving into your dream home. I have learnt that things like this do take time and you won’t always get your dream straightaway. It’s a lifelong journey that you can share with your family and that’s what’s important. Matt, Alexis and I have recently moved into our forever home and I can’t wait to improve our new house as the years pass by.

REPLACE OLD WINDOWS

Double glazed windows are such an important aspect of a house for me. I have lived in some extremely old houses were it was very damp and you had drafts coming from every angle. It also didn’t help that I never once felt that the windows were safe. When my daughter came along I knew I needed to make the change and that’s when we decided to take on this little investment.

I’ve also experienced first hand how energy efficient they are. By installing energy rated double glazing you will significantly reduce your heating bills, improve your home’s energy efficiency and reduce your carbon footprint. Let me save you the trouble of having to search google for ‘double glazing installers near me’ and check out this link. There are some fantastic window special offers that can help you to transform your home. So if I could only give you one piece of advice today it would be this. Don’t leave it until it’s too late because your health and happiness is more important than anything else.

PLAY ROOM IDEAS

Could you imagine having a playroom for your children? It’s been a life long goal of mine. If only I could have somewhere to allow my children to learn, explore and play in the comfort of their own family home. I mean I have always loved the idea of a playroom in our family conservatory. How wonderful does that sound? I just need to get the conservatory first!

A conservatory is a perfect asset to add to any home as it’s such a versatile room. You could use it as a playroom, dining room, a place to host afternoon tea for friends and/or a hangout spot for teenagers.

Do you know the difference between a conservatory and an orangery? I know I didn’t until now. An orangery is a combination of a traditional home extension and a conservatory. It comes with a brickwork base that suits the style of your home. Whereas as conversation can be built to your exact requirements so you get the shape and style of conservatory that is right for your dream home.

Is a playroom a must-have for you and your family? If the answer is yes then make sure to check out these 30 epic playroom ideas that will make you want to be a kid again. Here are just a few of the cool ideas they include;

CREATE YOUR VERY OWN READING CORNER

Bay windows are the perfect place to incorporate a reading corner. I can see it so perfectly in my head. Imagine this; You’re sitting back relaxing on a comfy cushion placed in your new bay window, a cup of coffee in one hand and a book in the other. You look out of the window and you can see the sun shining brightly through, it’s a wonderful day!

Now how good does that sound to you!?

DON’T FORGET THE GARDEN

The garden also comes with so many opportunities for creating a great family atmosphere. Whether you want to create a relaxed environment for the adults or you’re planning to go all out with the ultimate children’s play area. There are also many different ways to combine the two and get the best of both worlds in your family life.

We are currently in the process of creating our very own garden furniture using wooden pallets. Not only are wooden pallets usually completely free of charge but are also extremely easy to assemble. You can quite honestly use them to create anything you want. I simply went and found a tutorial over on Pinterest and the rest is history. We then decided to make it our latest project and so far it’s going really well. We have had so much fun making them and we even managed to save some leftover wood to create vegetable and herb planters.

We have a very long way to go before we have our dream house but it’s most definitely on its way to being a family home. It’s a wonderful feeling when you see it all coming together. Slowly but surely! If you want to see more of our lives you can follow us over on Instagram & Twitter for daily updates.
