With the big day soon approaching I wanted to take a moment to wish every Mum, Mummy, Mama out there a Happy Mothers Day! Whether you celebrate the occasion or not you still deserve that mummy recognition. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt in the last year it is how tough motherhood can be. Although, I believe that I have been a pretty good daughter to my mum I feel like I should have appreciated a lot more. To think I’ve only survived one year of parenting and she’s already done 23 years with two children. Damn mum, you’re honestly a superwoman. This year is my very first mothers day and not only do I get to spend it with my mum but I get to spend it with Alexis too.
This year Mothers day has a whole different meaning to me. I just can’t believe that a whole year ago I was pregnant and now she’s here in my arms. Well mostly climbing everything with bare minimum time actually spent in my arms but still. I have always had a very strong bond with my own mum and nan so I guess that this day has always been a bit special to me. Now I get to be one of the mummies and create my own bond with my special girl

What Does Mothers Day Mean To You?
I know that everyone has their own opinions when it comes to celebrating holidays like this. Some people see Mothers day in the same way as they do other holidays, such as fathers day and valentine’s day. Many see it as nothing but a marketing gimmick rather than something special. To some degree, I can definitely agree but I don’t think there’s any harm in having it either. A special day dedicated to appreciating our mothers is beautiful in my eyes. Now I am a mum myself I don’t expect a gift but I do think it’s a lovely gesture. Something as simple as a little bunch of flowers would really make my day. Then again I’d be just as happy if someone else wiped my kid’s ass or done the bedtime routine instead.
What Mums Really Want:
As ungrateful as It might sounds we don’t all want or need gifts. I feel like sometimes we just want to be appreciated. Sometimes I just want everyone to sit there and tell me they understand how hard my job is! Also telling me how much they are grateful for everything I do wouldn’t go amiss either. Even if it does means I only get one day a year to be told how good I am doing. It would be good enough for me. Does that make me sound sad? probably but I really do think that would be a good gift, don’t you agree? If you don’t then you’re clearly not a mum! I actually recently put out a question on Twitter asking all mums what their dream gift would be and these are some of the answers I got. You may see some reoccurring themes going on with these answers… have fun reading! I know I sure did.
Buy A Gift Just For Her:
You don’t need to spend a fortune on luxurious gifts to be able to treat your mum. I find that something special and meaningful that you know your mum would love is all that it takes. All thanks to Moonpig I have been able to gift my mum something that I know she would absolutely love. As new parents, you can often find it difficult to set aside any money or time for yourself. Although my own mother isn’t a new parent her job is still just as hard. I guess that’s the thing with parenting. No matter your children’s age, they are always going to be your baby.
This year I have decided to treat my mother to a Smartbox lunch & relaxation for two gift experience. I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know that Moonpig offered gifts like this. If you didn’t either you might be thinking how does it work? For this specific gift, you have a choice of 420 spa and pampering experiences to pick from. These can be found located all over England so there’s a huge selection to choose from. We have decided to go along for a 25-minute head, shoulder and back massage each followed by a 3-course meal in Zizi’s restaurant. I don’t think you could get that experience for that price anywhere else. Not only are we getting a bargain, but we are also getting the chance to spend some well-deserved time just the two of us. Which in my eyes is what Mothers day should be all about.
If you’re looking for a gift finder it’s always worth checking out Moonpigs gift selection. I was so surprised when I fount out they did more than personalised cards. Have I just been living under a rock or what? Don’t get me wrong I always knew that Moonpig cards are the bee’s knees but I never knew there was more to them! I always find that companies like this are perfect for people who struggle to find spare time to shop or are just simply very unorganised. There’s no harm in being super unorganised it just isn’t very beneficial to your life (I should know). So with that in mind you unorganised folk, don’t forget to take full advantage of Moonpig next day delivery service either. I’m never that bad but it is always handy to know if you do happen to forget nearer the time.
A Big Thank You To My Mum:
My mum has always been my number one fan when it comes to supporting my blog. I know she is always the first to read and more than half of the time she is the first to comment too. She is always telling me how proud she is of me and how well she thinks I’m doing. I always see my own potential but that never stops my mum from constantly reminding me. I feel that I owe it to her to say a big thank you for everything. Most of the things she does for me I don’t even realise. It’s moments like these where I actually sit back and think wow. She is simply the most incredible person I know and I am so lucky to have her as my mum.
This year I feel that I need to be even more thankful than I have ever been before. My mum and grandmother have helped me out so much with everything within the past year. I’ve not only moved house 3 times, but I’ve also had a baby. My mum and nan have been there every step of the way so I owe them a lot. They have both shown me that motherhood is never ending and that you are there for your children no matter. I could not thank them enough for everything they do and the way they’ve brought me up.
