ADThis is a collaborative post however, all opinions are my own.

Who doesn’t love a good family holiday? I know I do. Even more so when you know you have your very own villa. There’s something about being on holiday that makes you completely forget all about being at home. By that, I don’t mean forgetting family and friends but more of the daily grind and struggles we all face.

It’s fair to say that life can be stressful at times and it’s nice to get away from it all. The troubles of having to juggle kids, do the housework, cook dinner and the never-ending list of everything else in-between can be very overwhelming.

Having that pressure taken off you allows you to relax and appreciate the time you have. It’s nice to get a moment to spend with one another and create memories together.

Quality time between families is something that is often pushed aside due to school and work. At least with a holiday, the whole family is there living in the moment. Being away brings out a whole different side to me and I absolutely love it. There’s definitely no shame in admitting you’re happier abroad.

A study of 1,000 parents of 5-17-year-olds found 86 per cent see holidays as a key bonding time for them and their children.

A recent study commissioned by Solmar Villas showed some really interesting facts when it comes to families on holiday. More than half – 59 per cent – describe their family holidays as ‘relaxing’ while 37 per cent said they are ‘active’ and overall three in five find them ‘fun’.

I think the keywords here are relaxing, active and fun. No matter what your holiday preference is there is always something for everyone.

You can choose a villa to suit your own needs and fit around what you and your family want.

Personally, I found the study really interesting. It showed a completely different side of holidays that you don’t usually think about. Not only are they great for making memories and experiencing new things but they are also vital for both the parents and children’s well being.

Click here to read all about the recent study and see how it can help families reconnect.

That’s why we love villas so much when it comes to the holiday season. There’s no having to get up early and rush to the pool because guess what? You’ve got your own.

Everything you need is on your doorstep or within arms reach. I think this is extremely important when it comes to travelling with kids. You have the structure of your own house whilst not having to worry about the bills, housework, and everything else that comes with running a household.

You can also choose your villa depending on what type of holiday you’re after. There are all sorts to choose from including; golfing, Seaview/beach, larger ones for big families and even resort packages.

You name it! Solmar Villas have it all.

on the beach holidays

Who doesn’t love a bit of holiday inspiration? Whether you’re into the beach life, city breaks or historical sites, I’m a huge fan of it all! Here is one of our most recent trips to Athens, Greece.

In my eyes, a holiday is anything from a night away, to a weekend break, all the way to long stay! But as the study said, it can take up to 2 days for the average family to relax and reconnect with one another. So why not go all out and have a week or two abroad.

January is the perfect opportunity for families to start considering where they want to go on holiday. You have the whole year ahead of you so make sure you plan in advance and stay ahead of the game. Are you going to keep it local by heading to a caravan park, or are you looking for an on the beach holiday? With so many different choices in the world, it’s often hard to narrow down your choices. When it comes to children it’s hard to decide what’s the right place. Making sure you book with the right company is a vital part of having a great holiday and decreasing stress.

It’s fair to say that when you have kids you don’t have much time, patience or effort.

You want something that’s planned from the moment you step off that plane until the moment you arrive back home.

One of the best things about a villa holiday is that it really is the full package. Of course, each company will be different from one another but they mostly cover everything.

The last thing you want on holiday is to feel stressed so by booking your holiday this way you don’t need to worry about anything. For me, this is one of the most important aspects of my holiday. I have enough with being stressed at home so the last thing I want is to be stressed abroad.

Of course, we adults are entitled to our own time and children don’t always need an invite. It’s ok to spend some time together without the children. If that’s what you’re looking for make sure to check out what we got up to on our romantic private hot tub getaway.

At the end of the day, we all deserve a break at some point and what better way to do that than to go away together. With so many different places to visit, the world is your oyster!

By no means does this mean I am now an experienced travel blogger. I am a mother who knows how important it is for families to spend time with one another, especially abroad! What holidays do you have planned? Give us all some travel inspiration in the comment section and/or send them to me on Twitter & Instagram.

Family holidays are so important for everyone. I know some people don’t like to but I love going away with the kids. Seeing them experiencing new things and having fun is the best part.

Family holidays are a must, a lot of memories with my family come from going on holiday most years, and it’s great to have those memories to look back on. I’ve not really thought of Villa holidays before, but they seem great xx

We just took the kids to Disney World for the first time at the beginning of December and it was so much fun! I would love to have another trip with just my husband and I. It’s been a few years since we really got away. It can be so meaningful. Thanks for the great post.

Oh 100%! I know it can be easier said than done but it’s so important to do both! I bet Disneyland was amazing 😊 also definitely try getting a little weekend away with your other half if you can! Would be so lovely for you both x

We love villa holidays for all the reasons you give here: you can do your own thing, get up and go to bed when you want, no struggles to claim a sun lounger by the pool, and best of all, it feels like a home rather than a room. And yes, I agree, January is the perfect time to start planning, thank you for the reminder! 🙂

    • January 26, 2020 / 8:09 pm

Oh it’s so lovely to see that other people agree with me! It’s definitely so much more relaxed isn’t it! Don’t get me wrong I enjoy all sorts of holidays but villas are my favourite!

What a fab post! I don’t have a little one but agree that planning makes things one million times easier and I’m much more a fan of staying in a villa rather than hotel (probs so I can avoid people) haha! xx

When I’ve been away with the kids, we’ve always stayed in a hotel. I love the idea of staying in a villa – what freedom! These are such great tips for those looking to book a family holiday! xxx
