Who’d have thought that you could start teaching your child to write at only 5 months old? Sound’s crazy right! Well, with the help of Little Learners you can begin as early as that. With the use of messy play, you can start to introduce the motion of mark marking. A technic used to help teach your little ones the start of writing their very own letters.

I am so invested in helping Alexis to learn and grow so when I discovered Little Learners I was adamant I wanted to try it out with her. I am yet to take her along to one of the classes as currently there aren’t any in my area, however, Little Learners kindly sent me a copy of their programme. In the post, I received their mark-making programme, sensory ribbon rings and play dough. All of which can be purchased directly from their site if you are thinking of introducing messy play too.

Encourage Every Child To Make Their Mark:

These products are all designed to assist the classes but directly from your home. With Little Learners guidance you can help your child take the first steps towards writing for themselves. These classes are designed to make sure your little one has fun but whilst learning through play. The aim of our baby & toddler classes is to get the children involved in scribbling, play dough, motor skills activities, dance, song and more. Your child will explore many areas of learning during our classes which are all linked to the EYFS government guidance.

The best part about mark-making is that it’s nothing but fun. Allowing your child to explore a range of different tools such as the ones stated above is fantastic for their progression. It allows them to help develop all their skills in preparation for when they start school. You might think 5 months old is too young but you’ll be surprised at how much your child will pick up as they go along.

Meet The Mark Making Characters:

There are four different characters who will help your child on their learning adventure. Each of the characters represents a different shape/pattern that helps to make up all letters and numbers. Every character within the mark-making book comes with its own sticker so that when your child is confident in that section you can mark their progress. I mean what kid doesn’t love a sticker!

The Little Learners characters are:

  • Lionel – Soldier Marks
  • Archie – Rainbow Marks
  • Swirlo – Magic Marks
  • Ziggy – Monster Marks

Messy Play Classes for Babies & Toddlers:

Whilst you can do this at home there are plenty of classes to attend around the UK, as well as Australia. Although I am yet to experience a Little learners class I am a huge advocate for baby and toddler groups. Since Alexis was 20 weeks old we have gone to our weekly baby group. Not only are these classes fantastic for the children but are also great for getting mothers, fathers and even grandparents involved too.

If there aren’t any messy play for babies classes in your local area then why not start your own. Ever thought about joining a franchise? You can become part of the UK’s leading messy play franchise by starting your very own Little Learners centre. You can find all the information on that right here.

I love that – making the most of every moment while still letting the baby be a baby and simply have fun while learning!
