It seems that we tend to have a lot of family traditions when it comes to Christmas. Heading to Butlins in Bognor Regis over the Christmas holidays is something we’ve done since as long as I can remember. This year we booked onto their Christmas Fantasy Butlins break for a long weekend and it was brilliant. This was the first year that little Lexie joined us on our family trip and she loved every minute of it. We were so impressed that we’ve already booked to go back again!
If you’ve never experienced Butlins before then fear no more. I am here to give you a complete rundown of everything you can get up to at Bognor Regis. Although there are a total of 3 resorts we tend to always go to Bognor Regis however, Minehead and Skegness are also great fun. We have been visiting Butlins as a family for over 40 years now. So I can assure you we know our stuff. Whether you’ve got little babies, children or teens! There is always something going on for everyone to enjoy.
The Skyline is the main section of Butlins. This is the place where the majority of entertainment goes on apart from the evening entertainment. You may also know it as the big famous white tent that you can see from miles away. Inside the Skyline, you will find; shops, restaurants, bars, entertainment shows, arcades and so much more. There is an endless amount of entertainment inside so Butlins can be enjoyed no matter what the weather. Which is fantastic since this is England and we are used to a fair share of wet weather.
Inside the tent, you can find lots of entertainment to keep the little ones busy for hours. There are four Indoor rides for the younger kids as well as a big area of soft play. The thing I like most about this is that there is only one entrance/exit so you know your children will be safe once they are in there. You can never relax when you have children but at least you have that little bit of peace of mind.
Right in the middle of the Skyline, you will find the Skyline Stage. This is where the red coats perform dance shows with characters and hold fun activities for the children. You can sing, dance and play with characters such as; Teletubbies, Billy Bear, Bonnie Bear, and the famous Skyline Gang. All of this can also be enjoyed by purchasing a Butlins day pass. This is something we have done in the past and is as equally as great.
Whether you’re looking for a jam-packed weekend of activities or you want to sit back and relax. There’s plenty to do to suit everyone’s wants and needs. Our favourite place to go to is Hotshots the Sports Bar. Inside you will find arcades, bowling and snooker for the children to play whilst the adults get to chill out with a glass or two.
Evening Shows begin with kid’s disco and some family-friendly fun followed by adult entertainment. By this, I don’t mean strippers and lap dancers but more of singer tribute acts and performers. Butlins always supply the best entertainment and really put on some great shows. This year we watched Little Mix, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and I thoroughly enjoyed them all. As I’m sure you already know, Butlins is mostly based around the children. If you are looking for something a little more adult-friendly then check out this place we recently visited. If you are still looking for strippers I think you are on the wrong site. But what I can do is show you this gorgeous romantic cabin getaway with a private hot tub.
Christmas is our favourite time to go because they put so much more on for the children. In the month of December, there is always a Pantomine which I want to add in is fantastic. This year it was sleeping beauty and it was just as good as going to any other theatre show. As well as this, in December you can meet the big man in red himself. Santa always comes to Butlins in December so that all of the children can meet him and get an early present too.
Bognor Regis have something brand new to me this year! Their new splash pool complex. Although the old pool was good, it was definitely in need of a refurbishment and that’s exactly what they did. The brand new pool is designed to recreate your typical British seaside. Inside you will find features like the Helter Skelter water slide, Seaside Garden rapids and Stick of Rock slides. Followed by the quieter areas such as’ the lido and tots pool. Even though it was winter we were still able to take Alexis in as it was heated. The children’s area wasn’t over crowed and was perfect for little babies like Lexie. A brilliant place to include the bubbas and allow them some time to build their own water confidence.
The fun doesn’t end inside the Skyline Pavillion. There is so much more to join in with outside. So, if the weather is good to take a look at what else is available for you to do! Or if you are like us just do it, whatever the weather! We decided to hire one of the 6-seater Family Dino bikes which were great fun. There was even a seat for Alexis so she could join in too. We followed the map given to us and scooted around the grounds of Butlins for an hour or so. There are so many different types of bikes you can hire so make sure to take a look at the hire shop before you arrive. If you aren’t into bike riding then there’s plenty more to do. These include activities such as; archery, kids club, go ape, go karting and so much more.
For The Adults:
It’s always worth noting that there is plenty for adults to do here too. If you aren’t booked onto one of their adult-only weekends then theirs still more for you. Whether you are looking to relax with a glass of wine in Bar Rosso or you want to enjoy the on resort spa. As an adult myself, I can promise you’ll still have a fantastic time.
Sometimes the best places are literally on your doorstep. England has a lot of wonderful getaways to offer and Bognor Regis is definitely our favourite. If of course, England isn’t what you’re looking for then make sure to check out our recent trip to Athens. A bit further afield but equally as nice and can still count as a long weekend away.
If you are wanting to visit Butlins next year make sure to pin this post. That way you can get back to it whenever you want for guidance. Of course, if you do decide to book your break let me know in the comment section below! I’d love to hear what package you’ve decided on. Will it be a winter or summer package for you?
