If you’re anything like me you’ve probably left everything to the last minute! Who even has the time to go and buy presents, sort out the food, decorate the house and god knows what else!? Well, I can answer that for you. Nobody has the time. Christmas is meant to be an enjoyable time but tends to end up being stressful. That’s why I’m here to send a little sparkle of support and help your way and share my gift guide this year.

Do you know someone who has recently had a baby? Maybe it’s your friend, your neighbour, a relative or even yourself. I think all new mummies need these bits on their Christmas list this year. As a new mum myself, I had a good think about all the things I want this year and I found these very beneficial.

It’s funny how your priorities do change after a baby. Last year, there would have been games, makeup, and clothing on my list but this year it’s different. I feel that I’ve taken a much different approach to this gift guide. I’m sharing some of the things you wouldn’t necessarily consider a gift but would be extremely thoughtful and great for us mums.

What does Christmas mean to you and your family? In our household, Christmas would not be Christmas without a little tipple. Although I am partial to a glass of wine, Gin has and always will be my favourite. It not only tastes good but has a lot fewer calories than most other alcoholic beverages too, which of course, is always a bonus!

I am all for supporting new, up and coming, independent businesses. Which is something I will always stand by! Looking locally for Christmas gifts has always been something I have done and will continue to do. Some of the best quality products I’ve ever bought have come from independent stores rather than the well-known retailers we all know off. So as you can imagine, when Rachel from Cricketers Gin contacted me I literally jumped at the chance to collaborate.

As a mum, there is nothing nicer than popping your feet up at the end of a hard day and enjoying a glass or two. Of course, you wouldn’t dare have more than two as you’re never alone for long. But that’s the best thing about Cricketers Gin, you needn’t any more than two. From the moment you take your first sip you can taste the quality of this London dry gin.

Is this product for the mum, the baby, or both!? As a pro babywearing Mumma I can most definitely tell you it will benefit both. Freerider co baby slings are a fantastic choice for any new parent to be.

These slings are in fact made from 100% Tencel. This is the most ecologically friendly fabric there is when it comes to babywearing. It is made from the pulp of Austrian beechwood trees and uses 95% less water in production. Yet, it’s the smoothest fabric I have personally ever felt. This fabric takes the phrase “smooth as a babies bum” to a whole other level. I’m sure we can all agree that as parents you always want what’s best for your little ones, right?

I fell in love with this company because of all the beautiful prints and neutral colour schemes they supply. As well as being extremely light and incredibly breathable. Make sure to check out their website and social media channels to see their products in action. So many gorgeous pictures shared by mums just like you. Mums making full use of their slings in everyday life.

There’s a reason why they won the Mother&baby award in both 2019 and 2020!

That then brings me to Work Wonderland. An online course to help you dig deep and discover what you were put on this earth to do. Since becoming a mum I sometimes question the pathway I have taken. Am I on the right path? am I still able to follow the career I had planned to prior to having children? With the help of work wonderland, I did just that.

Alison the creator of Live True recently contacted me and offered me the chance to test it out for myself. I was not disappointed. Alison is extremely good at what she does and that comes across from the moment you log into your account. She is a leading life coach as well as specialising in career coaching which of course, makes her the exact right person for the job.

It comes with your own digital playbook which you can save to your laptop/drive. You have the option to either type directly into the playbook or you can print it off and write it by hand, whatever best suits you. Don’t worry, it’s not confusing at all! It’s extremely easy to navigate around.

Inside the playbook, you will find all the activities and worksheets you need to complete. These are there for you to do as you go through the course module by module. There are a total of 4 modules to work your way through as a when it suits you. These are as followed;

  • Foundations – Module 1
  • Digging Deeper – Module 2
  • Getting Creative – Module 3
  • Connecting The Dots – Module 4

The thing I liked most about this course was how professional yet genuine Alison portrayed herself. She has helped myself and many others out there to find out what their bodies crave from this world. There are 3 things that really stuck with me in the first 10 minutes of starting the course.

To finish off my gift guide I’d like to introduce you to this magical set from Sea Soul Blessings. Yet another unique gift with such a powerful and beneficial message. This is a product that I believe anyone could get something out of. Whether you’re a new mum or not, this is the perfect gift for someone in need of guidance or a little pick me up each day. These card and book box sets are a fantastic resource to help you get back on your feet.

As a new mum, it can be extremely hard. You often sit there thinking “Can I do this?” and “I wonder if other mums feel the same?”. These are the types of questions that haunted me throughout the last 6 months. Since discovering Sea Soul Blessings I am learning to be kinder to myself.

I lost myself, somewhere deep within all the mum guilt I was feeling. This wasn’t what I thought motherhood was going to be like, nothing at all! Thankfully, through having my own set of cards I am slowly becoming the mum I knew I was destined to be. I feel better within myself and I’m even sure Alexis can see the difference. It’s a long process but I finally feel like I’m getting it and I want other mums to feel it too.

“Since I became a mum, I’ve spent much of my career supporting overwhelmed unappreciated mums at Story of Mum – running mamas’ retreats in Cornwall, coaching mothers, and facilitating creative time out for mums to reconnect to themselves. Sea Soul Blessings emerged from my coaching work – and my own transformative self-care practice – daily sea swims all year round. The cards offered me a way to continue supporting mums when I couldn’t be by their side – they are tools that encourage us to pause and think about ourselves for a moment – how we feel, what we want, what we need. And that teaches us how to practice greater self-compassion – speaking to ourselves with kindness. Just like sea swimming, self-compassion is something that has completely changed my life for the better – helping me to appreciate all that I do and move away from accepting the opinions of my inner critic. The cards also activate our ‘blue mind’ – drawing on the power of the sea to bring us greater calm, focus and joy.”

Quite honestly I would have LOVED to find any of these under my tree as a new mum. Gin probably takes first place (I’m a gin girl like you) but I do like the look of the Sea Soul Blessings too. We could all do with being reminded to be kinder to ourselves but (and I’m biased so fight me) new mums especially. Lovely gift guide, Ashleigh, thank you for sharing! Lisa X
