*Please bear in mind that the age guidelines I’ve set for my recommendations are nothing but a guess. These choices are what I’d personally allow my children to watch at these ages. However, it’s important to remember that you know your own child. Unfortunately, you cannot hold me responsible for any nightmares they may or may not have. Happy Halloween!
October is here which means that Halloween is near. What a spooktacular time to enjoy and celebrate together with your family. Whether you’re going all out or having a lowkey celebration I’ve got some great recommendations for you this year. If you don’t want to head out on Halloween night then that’s absolutely fine. Grab some of your favourite snacks, cosy up under a blanket and enjoy one or two of the movie choices below.
With COVID-19 still hot in the air it’s quite possible that halloween will be cancelled this year. That being said it doesn’t mean that you can’t create your own scary celebration from the comfort of your own home. We have decided to have a spooktacular movie marathon. Starting with something family-friendly early on and then followed by something petrifying like paranormal activity in the evening.

I’ve separated each of my choices into three different categories. We’ve got the little ones which of course, are the babies who love cartoons and colours. The next is the big kids which I would say is targetted for primary school age. Then last but not least we have a few for the even bigger kids, which would, of course, be the teens. If you head right to the end you might even find something thrilling for the adults too. Horror films have and always will be my favourite movie genre so without further ado let’s get straight into it.
THE LITTLE ONES:
- Hotel
Transylvania - Super Monsters (Netflix Special)
- Monster House
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- ParaNorman
- Monsters Vs Aliens
THE BIG KIDS:
- Labyrinth
- The House With A Clock On It’s Wall
- The Haunted Mansion
- Caspar
- Hocus Pocus
- Scooby-Doo Monsters Unleashed.
- The Little Vampire
- Goosebumps
THE EVEN BIGGER BIG KIDS:
- Beetlejuice
- Scream
- World War Z
- Zombieland
- Shaun of The Dead
- Ghostbusters
- Signs
- The Scary Movies 1-5
- Harry Potter
SOMETHING FOR THE THRILL SEEKERS:
- IT
- Paranormal Activity
- The Conjuring
- the Conjuring 2
- Insidious
- Sinister
- Trick r’ Treat
- The Nun
- Annabelle
- The Grudge
- Candyman
- Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Whether you’re looking for some family-friendly fun or the best horror movies that will make you jump out of your skin. In this list, you will find something for everyone. Of course, everything is looking at little different this year because of COVID-19 however, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.

Good selection! Although, I have to say that even at 22 I would gravitate towards the ‘little ones’ and ‘big kids’ sections!
