People from all over the world will be getting involved with Time to Talk Day. By simply having a conversation about mental health and showing that we can all talk about this subject anywhere, you too can join in.
Whether you are in a lift, at the gym or even hiking up a mount Everest! There is no stopping us opening up about the struggles of mental health. I am just one of many people in this world that do struggle but I am here today writing this post because I have spoken up.
There’s no right or wrong way to get involved – every conversation about mental health helps to make it a normal subject for people to talk about. As a society we have treated mental health as a taboo subject, something not to be spoken about. But that is incorrect, mental health affects us all at some point in our lives and no one should ever feel ashamed because of this.
Time To Talk
All thanks to Time To Change Time to talk Day will be held on the 1st of February 2018. The main aim is to spread the word that wherever you are, any place can be the right space to talk about mental health. I will be reaching out to all my family, friends and even strangers to see if they want to talk about mental health. If not, that is ok but I will tell them even if they don’t feel ready now, I will always be here to listen if they ever do.
You Are Not Alone
As someone who has suffered from mental health for as long as I can remember, I have learned many things along the way. As much as you may feel it at times you are most definitely not alone.
Since joining Twitter and starting my blog I have met thousands of people who feel just like I do. Don’t ever feel like you’re going through this by yourself. It’s reassuring to know you aren’t alone and there are people out there feeling the same.
I constantly get messages and comments saying “Me too” or “I know exactly how you feel”. I think we need to learn as a human race that unfortunately, mental health is a huge part that affects many of us. We need to learn as a society to pull together and support one another through the tough and draining process.
If we do this we CAN and WILL beat mental health together.
How Can You Get Involved?
Guess what? I’m a nobody but don’t worry there is plenty of space for nobodies just like us. Whether you have minutes or hours, here are some top ideas what you can do to help spread the positiveness of mental health.
- A craft and chat evening at your house for family and friends
- Hand out leaflets in public (prints available from the time to change website)
- Running a stand in your local railway station that day speaking to commuters and travellers
- Hold an event at your local youth centre
- Holding a quiz at your café or pub to raise money for mental health charities
- Setting up a stand in the reception at work
- Talk to your friends about mental health in general and support each other if they have problems (everyone has their story, don’t feel like you are alone because you aren’t)
- Make a YouYube video talking about the day and the importance of mental health discussions.
- or just like me, you can write a post on any social media sites to spread a little more awareness.
- and so much more.

This website is also perfect for people who may be suffering but aren’t quite ready to talk so make sure to check out their page for any help.
I hope all of my readers already know that they can talk to me at any time of day, with any problem they have but if they don’t, I just want to say one thing. I am no therapist but I promise you this: I will care and I will listen.
